  • 1. Who is Think English?
    Think English is the department for the English language programs which are provided by Notting Hill College. Notting Hill College is a British training institute, established in 2004, which provides teacher training programs, business diplomas and vocational training. Notting Hill College is registered in England and Wales as Notting Hill College LTD No. 5042086. Notting Hill College UKRLP: 10028428. We are fully accredited by the BAC and ASIC.
  • 2. What courses do you provide?
    We provide 1-2-1 and group courses for: General English Academic English Business English IELTS Preparation UK Visa/SELT Preparation OET Preparation ISE / ESOL / GESE Preparation & Exams Academic Proofreading We can also provide tailored courses upon request.
  • 3. How are the classes delivered?
    Our classes are delivered either online, through our Virtual Campus, or classroom-based at our study centre in Manchester, UK. Virtual Campus The Virtual Campus is delivered through stylish video conferencing software. Students can hear and see the teacher as though they are in the same classroom. Our presenter software means students can view the materials together, watch videos, listen to audio, share their screens and take part in interactive activities. Our classroom management software means you can get to know your classmates personally, check class schedules, homework and access additional resources, all from the comfort of your own home. Classroom based in the UK For international students wanting to study in the UK, we have a fully equipped study centre in the heart of Manchester. These students will study with British native language teachers, receive visa support and assistance with finding accommodation. We can also help with arranging a social schedule, so you can make the most of your time in Manchester.
  • 4. How long are the courses?
    Our online general English program is 10 weeks per level and consist of 60 hours of teaching. This is usually split over 3 days per week, 2 hours per day. For other program durations please contact your local office directly.
  • 5. How many students are in a class?
    There is a minimum of 5 students per class and a maximum of 10.
  • 6. Is there an assessment?
    Yes, the tutor will be carrying out assessment throughout the course and there will be a level test at the end.
  • 7. What are the minimum requirements for joining the Virtual Campus?
    As the Virtual Campus classes are run with video, we recommend an internet speed of at least 800kbps for uploading and 1.0Mbps for downloading for high-quality video. To send and receive HD video, you would need an internet speed of at least 3Mbps for both uploading and downloading.
  • 8. How can I pay for my course?
    You can pay in cash or credit card at your local office, you can also pay bank transfer into your local office account and we have a secure online payment system which you can find here - https://www.think-english.co.uk/pay-online
  • 9. Can I pay in instalments?
    Yes, please contact your local office to arrange this.
  • 10. Do I need a webcam and microphone?
    Yes, you should get both so that you experience the full benefits of the online course on the Virtual Campus. If you don’t have a webcam, you can still take part in lessons. If you don’t have a microphone, it would be difficult to fully participate. A good quality headset or headphones are useful.
  • 11. What if I have technical problems during the class?
    Each lesson will be recorded and uploaded to our Learning Management System (LMS), a platform where you can access lessons, support, and resources. You can revisit this class at any time.
  • 12. Can I ask the teacher a question during virtual classes?
    Yes, if you need to ask a question, please click ‘raise your hand’ in the chat room. The teacher will get a message that you want to talk and will talk to you directly.
  • 13. Can I study in a coffee shop?
    We recommend that you take your class in a quiet, peaceful place with no interruptions. If you are in a coffee shop, other people can see what you are doing and it can be quite noisy.
  • 14. Do we get books?
    We use a special version of the Textbook in the classes and students can see this in the lesson. We also distribute handouts and other material to students. If you want to buy a textbook, then please ask your teacher and we can arrange this for you. You can also buy access to the Cambridge LMS for extra practice. Your teacher can advise on the price of this.
  • 15. Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?
    Yes, you will receive an electronic certificate of attendance or achievement at the end of each level. You can request this certificate to be shipped to you, delivery charges apply.

  • 17. How can I apply?
    Step 1 – Apply for our online placement test Step 2 – Get your result and contact your local branch Step 3 – Your local branch will give you a selection of course dates to choose from. Select which course you would like to enrol on Step 4 – Receive the invoice for payment and pay the course fees Step 5 – Your local branch will assign a student advisor to you and they will send you a confirmation and guidance on what to do next.
  • 18. Will there be an orientation session?
    Yes, whether you are taking classes in person or online, you will receive an orientation session. This session will cover how to use the Learning Management System (LMS) and what to expect from your lessons.
