The Occupational English Test (OET) is an English language proficiency exam designed for healthcare professionals who wish to work or study in English-speaking countries. Unlike general English tests like IELTS or TOEFL, OET focuses on medical and healthcare scenarios, making it more relevant to professionals in this field.

The OET test was established in the late 1980s and developed by the Australian government. Added to that, it was created and designed by Professor Tim McNamara at the University of Melbourne who is one of the original developers of the IELTS test.
